Let's rethink John 14:1-3

John 14:1-3(KJV): Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. So, we have often been taught in Sunday School/Children's Church growing up, and even after we had grown, we have found our theology to have this portion of Scriptures as the basis for teaching about the kind of rewards we will receive in Heaven after this life's work is done. Mansions in heaven, streets made of gold, etc. All of these have been used to paint a desirable picture of Heaven. Now this is not to disparage the beauty of heaven as a location - we have testimonies of people who have been there, no less the accounts in Scriptures in the OT and NT - but there is a concern with the application of this portion of Scripture to our reward in h...

DISCHARGED & ACQUITTED FOR LIFE!

SALVATION: WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT IS NOT! Theme scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Timothy 3:14-17 INTRODUCTION: God’s most important mission on earth is the salvation of man; which is why through the length of Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation, it is outlined exhaustively. In fact, we see from (Genesis 1:1-3, 3:15) our first insights into what salvation is.  Scriptures suggest that man is the greatest creation. The only one created after God’s image, man represented God’s authority on the earth (Genesis 1:26-28). However, man’s unbelief and rejection of God, expressed by disobedience to God in listening to his wife and ‘eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil’, scuttled this plan. (Romans 3:23, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3).  His act of disobedience, birthed by unbelief, had resulted in death – spiritual death, which in truth, is separation from God, man’s life source (Genesis 2:17; Romans 5:12). Man then suffered physical death, which is the cu...

WE CANNOT JUST BE CATCHING RHEMA UPANDAN!

I will like to establish first, that there is no new revelation! There is nothing new in biblical theory except that which is false.  2 Peter 1:20 (KJV) : Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:21 (KJV): "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  The message of grace or new creation realities or the finished work or what have you, is not new. A truth will always be a truth and a lie will remain a lie. We do not interpret the scriptures to prove a point! I always like to say that revelation is not progressive. For an instance; You cannot be catching rhema up an down! The last verse of the scriptures below does not mean the lifting up of Jesus in WORSHIP will please God or rather win souls to God.  John 12:30 (KJV): "Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes".   John 12:31 (KJV): "Now...

WE DO NOT HAIL FROM ABRAHAM!

Christ in the Incarnation is to be physically determined; which explains the genealogies in Matthew and Luke, which establishes that He was human, with roots to Abraham (as fulfillment of the promise to Abraham) to show He was of Jewish stock, and with roots to David (as fulfillment of the promise to David) to show that He was of royal stock: the King by human and eternal heritage. However, Christ in the Resurrection can only be discerned through Scriptures. He must be 'seen' by revelation through the Word, which is why Luke 24:24-26, 36-47 are very important. Let's develop on this a little more. There is a proclivity to call ourselves 'children of Abraham', and we would have some Scriptural justification: “And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”   — Galatians 3:29 (KJV) So, we have called ourselves children of Abraham because we believed, just like Abraham did. But in truth, do we hail from Abraham? If yes, ho...

..OF WORK & REWARDS!

Part of our Sunday School teachings/indoctrination is the view that eternal life is for those who 'endure till the end', meaning eternal life is a reward for righteous living. Apostle Paul presents us with two scenarios that may make us see that our Sunday School teachers may not have been right after all. First, let's examine 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:11‭-‬15 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.3.11-15.KJV It's imp...

BIBLICAL PROSPERITY: GIVING IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

"Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;  How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.  For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;  Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.  And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God." 2 Corinthians 8:1‭-‬5 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.8.1-5.KJV "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.  And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.  Now therefore perform the doing of it; th...

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A BIBLE STUDY MEETING!

Image
 1. Take some time to pray for the teacher and preacher. Pray he or she will teach with precision and accuracy. Pray that he/she will teach with boldness even as The Lord gives him utterances.  2. Take some time to pray for your self that your heart and mind will be receptive to God’s word. James 1:21 "Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.https://bible.com/bible/1/jas.1.21.KJV 3. Take same time to study scriptures or texts in line with the topic of the bible study. This will help you prepare for questions for the purpose of clarity and not argument.  4. Go like a student: It’s a bible study and you must be ready to take notes. So, go with your pen and your word note. You must be willing to unlearn and re-learn and avoid unnecessary questions and argument. Titus 3:9 "But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they...
